I have boiled down the content of my favorite books to the program as outlined on this page. The bulk of the program was developed from Super Gut by Dr. William Davis, and Dark Calories: How Vegetable Oils Destroy Our Health and How We Can Get It Back by Catherine Shanahan.


When starting from scratch with the program, I think it is best to assume we have SIBO/SIFO and an overproduction of fungi in the gut. As such, start with the "antibiotics" regime defined below. You can do this in week 1 of the program along with the Week 1 section below.


To clean the gut, we use natural "antibiotics" which create an environment in the gut which is non-conducive to the bad bacteria and fungi health. To resolve SIBO/SIFO, start with the following:


  • Curcumin or Berberine (300 - 500 mg twice daily)
  • Essential Oil regime as defined below (I use Peppermint and Cinnamon Cassia)


With the essential oils, combine 1 oz of Extra Virgin Olive Oil with 1 to 6 drops of an essential oil. Over a couple of days, build up as indicated:


  • Day 1: 1 drop essential oil and 1 oz of EVOO twice daily
  • Day 2: 3 drops essential oil and 1 oz of EVOO twice daily
  • Day 3: 5 drops essential oil and 1 oz of EVOO twice daily
  • Day 4: add 1 drop of a second essential oil plus 5 drops essential oil and 1 oz of EVOO twice daily
  • Day 5: 3 drops of a second essential oil plus 5 drops essential oil and 1 oz of EVOO twice daily
  • Day 6: 5 drops of a second essential oil plus 5 drops essential oil and 1 oz of EVOO twice daily
  • Days 7 - 14: maintain Day 6 rate: 5 drops of a second essential oil plus 5 drops essential oil and 1 oz of EVOO twice daily



Modified version / interpretation of Dr. William Davis' Super Gut program "Build Your Own Super Gut: A Four Week Program."


If you have ever done the Keto or another low carb diet, week one should be pretty easy as week one is very reminiscent of these diets. This week, we are primarily concerned with removing junk from our diet. The only additions are vitamins: Vitamin D, K3, Magnesium, and Zinc.


You should also get in the habit of drinking two ounces of Extra Virgin Olive Oil daily (one ounce twice daily).


Week 1:

  • Avoid sugar
  • Avoid artificial sweeteners
  • Avoid vegetable oils (see list below)
  • Avoid Emulsifiers (polysorbate 80 and carboxymethylcellulose)
  • Avoid all wheat and grains
  • Choose organic foods
  • Avoid NSAIDs, antibiotics, and acid reducing/blocking medicines
  • Add vitamin D (10,000 IBU) + K3
  • Add magnesium
  • Add zinc


Meal Structure

Coffee when getting the day started - black of course. Add a pinch of iodized salt.


First meal of the day, around between noon and 2:00 PM

  • Drink 1 oz of Extra Virgin Olive Oil; organic, first press, packaged in a can or dark glass. 
  • Curcumin or Berberine (without aids for absorption) (see Antibiotic - Cleaning up the Gut and Preparing for Repopulation above)
  • Essential Oils with EVOO (see Antibiotic - Cleaning up the Gut and Preparing for Repopulation above)
  • 1 to 2 cups of Clove Tea


Second meal of the day, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM

  • Drink 1 oz of Extra Virgin Olive Oil; organic, first press, packaged in a can or dark glass. 
  • Curcumin or Berberine (without aids for absorption) (see Antibiotic - Cleaning up the Gut and Preparing for Repopulation above)
  • Essential Oils with EVOO (see Antibiotic - Cleaning up the Gut and Preparing for Repopulation above)


Fast daily between 8:00 PM and 12:00 PM. Shoot for a minimum of 16 hours of fasting.

In Week 2, we build on week 1 and add focus to rebuilding the gut by repopulating it with the probiotics we have been missing due to pharmaceutical antibiotics and poor diet. (Keep doing Week 1; if you are doing the antibiotics, continue till the end of week 2).


  • Make the SIBO yogurt
  • Start eating your SIBO yogurt (1/2 cup per day)
  • Start creating your own fermented foods. 


Meal Structure
